Explore South Africas diverse landscapes on this Durban to Cape Town tour


Day 1: Durban Wild Coast
Departing the city, we take the coastal route and our first stop is at Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve, a wonderfully scenic area boasting forests, cliffs and idyllic walking/hiking trails. After our visit, we turn inland and the former homeland of Transkei, where we traverse the hilly grasslands dotted with Xhosa homesteads and tiny hamlets. Our accommodation for this evening is situated at the mouth of the tidal Mbotyi River, nestled between rolling hills, tropical forest and the warm Indian Ocean.

Day 2: Wild Coast East London
After breakfast, we depart for Mthatha also known as Umtata the focal point of the Nelson Mandela Route. Our next stop is Chintsa, a village on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape Province and located at the mouth of the Chintsa River. We spend the night in Chintsa Bay, surrounded by rolling hills and tropical beach forests overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Day 3: Chintsa Port Elizabeth
Departing Chintsa, our journey takes us to East London, the only river port in South Africa, and the place where a prehistoric and previously thought extinct coelacanth fish was caught in 1938. We visit Port Alfred and Grahamstown before heading to the Addo Elephant National Park where we will spend time exploring the park. Addo is the only national park in the world to conserve the Big 7Big 5, Southern Wright whale, Great-White shark. You are bound to spot many animals during your time here before we continue to Port Elizabeth.

Day 4: Port Elizabeth Knysna
Departing the Friendly City, we journey to the Tsitsikamma National Park Khoisan for The place of much water, where we walk a suspended bridge at the mouth of the Storms River, taking in the sheer beauty of the area. We continue to the highest road bridge in Africa Bloukrans 216m. After our visit, we stop at The Birds of Eden - worlds largest free-flight aviary before we head to the Knysna lagoon and Knysna town, best-known for its unique locally made art craft.

Day 5: Knysna - Oudtshoorn
Today we travel via George, through the lush forests of the Wilderness National Park and the picturesque Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, where we embark on a guided tour of the Cango Caves - a dripstone caverns system with vast halls of towering Stalactite Stalagmite formations. There is an option to visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch before dinner.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn Cape Town
Rising early, we visit some historical landmarks of the feather capital of the world so called after the 18th-century Ostrich industry boom, as well as a working Ostrich farm, to view and learn about these magnificent birds. From here we journey along the famous Route 62 and the historical Du Toits Kloof Pass to the Cape Winelands, where we will have the opportunity to visit one of the local wine estates. Our final stop is Cape Town, the mother city where we end our tour.
